There’s something special about baseball in the middle of a city. At Truist Field, the Charlotte Knights play with the Uptown skyline behind the outfield, and the walk to the ballpark is part of the fun. Whether you’re a season-ticket holder or catching your first game, this guide covers what to know before you go, plus where to grab a coffee on the way in.
About Truist Field and the Charlotte Knights
Truist Field is at 324 S Mint St in Uptown Charlotte. It opened in 2014, holds about 10,200 fans, and is home to the Charlotte Knights, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox in the International League. The ballpark has skyline views and a range of seating, from standard seats to club areas and suites.
Game times vary through the season, from evening games to weekend afternoons, so check the official Knights schedule before you plan your day.
Pregame coffee one block from the ballpark
Coffee Republic Trade Street is at 500 W Trade St, one block from Truist Field and two blocks from Bank of America Stadium. We open at 6:30am daily and close at 6pm. That makes us an easy stop before a day game, or a mid-afternoon pick-me-up if you’re spending the day Uptown ahead of an evening first pitch.
Remember that Truist Field doesn’t allow outside food or drinks, so finish your coffee before you reach the gate.
Know before you go: Truist Field basics
Gates
According to the Knights, gates usually open about an hour before first pitch (a little less for some evening start times), unless the team announces otherwise. The team’s social media is the place to check for earlier openings on special nights.
Bags
Bags can be no larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6″, and every bag gets inspected. Diaper bags (with a young child present) and medical bags are exceptions to the size limit but are still checked.
Food, drinks and water
Outside food and drinks aren’t permitted, and neither are coolers, cans or bottles. You may bring one empty water bottle, which you can fill at fountains around the ballpark, and concession stands will give you ice on request.
Payment
Truist Field is cashless. Bring a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card.
Entrance
The main entrance is at the corner of South Mint Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near the ticket office, and it has a ramp.
Getting to the game
- Drive: the Mint Street Parking Garage, at W Martin Luther King Blvd and S Mint St, is right next to the ballpark, and the Knights let you buy a spot ahead of time.
- Light rail: the LYNX Blue Line’s 3rd Street/Convention Center station is a short walk away.
- Streetcar: the CityLYNX Gold Line has a Mint Street stop near the ballpark. Check CATS for current fares and schedules.

Make a day of it in Uptown
Truist Field is surrounded by things to do, so an early arrival is worth it:
- Romare Bearden Park, at 300 S Church St, is right across the street. Its gardens, waterfalls and big lawn are a great place to relax before the gates open, especially with kids.
- Levine Center for the Arts, a short walk away on South Tryon Street, is home to the Mint Museum Uptown and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, both good options for a pregame afternoon.
- Knight Theater, on the same arts campus, is worth checking for shows on non-game nights.
Fan tips for a great game day
- Look for special promotions and theme nights on the Knights’ schedule.
- Bring sunscreen and a hat for day games; evening games can cool down quickly in spring and fall.
- Pack light so you get through bag check faster.
- Download your tickets before you leave home.
